Why Wet Timber Is the Biggest Termite Risk in Your Shire Home
About this service
Subterranean termites lose moisture rapidly through their soft cuticle and die quickly in dry environments. To survive away from the soil, they need a moisture source — leaking pipes, blocked gutters, poor subfloor ventilation, shower recesses, weep holes blocked by garden beds, or condensation on cold-water lines. Find the moisture and you find where termites will attack first.
A Tramex moisture meter measures the moisture content of timber and plasterboard non-invasively, using a small probe pressed against the surface. Readings above 17% in structural timber indicate active dampness — well within the range termites need to feed and gallery. Above 25% and the timber is actively rotting, providing termites with pre-softened food.

Signs of a problem
What's included
Most pest issues grow more complex and more expensive the longer they are left alone. A prompt inspection or treatment usually saves money, inconvenience and avoidable damage.
We show up on time, explain the treatment clearly, and back our work with written advice and follow-up recommendations. If you need the next step after an inspection or treatment, you'll know exactly what to do.
Our process
A licensed-technician process built around your property, your schedule, and the specific pest pressure we see across the Shire.
We assess the problem and where it is starting from.
We explain the right solution, whether that is treatment, monitoring or an inspection report.
You get practical next steps to keep the issue under control.
Our approach
No two homes, tenancies or commercial sites are the same. Every job gets a tailored plan based on access points, pest pressure, risk level and the outcome you actually need.
Across the Sutherland Shire we map moisture in every wet area on every inspection. The most common hot-spots: leaking shower recesses (especially second-floor bathrooms over timber framing), blocked weep holes in brick veneer, garden beds heaped against external walls, downpipes discharging next to slab edges, subfloor areas with inadequate ventilation, and ageing copper pipework with pinhole leaks.
Moisture mapping is reported as a colour-coded plan in your inspection report, with photographs of the worst readings and clear recommendations for rectification. Sometimes the fix is simple — clean a downpipe, clear a weep hole, lower a garden bed. Sometimes it's a plumbing repair. Either way, removing the moisture source removes the termite attractant.
A licensed technician checks the infestation pattern, risk points, conducive conditions and any safety requirements for kids, pets or staff.
We explain the target pest, affected areas, products or monitoring involved, expected results and next steps before work begins.
You get practical preparation advice, a clear treatment summary and a follow-up recommendation to reduce reinfestation risk.
